Dear Editor:
As an officer of the Union City Neighborhood Association, I thank Peter Baso, president of the Washington Park Association, for inviting our group and residents around Union City’s Washington Park to join in their annual park planting of flowers, herbs, shrubs, and trees. Mayor Stack greatly aided this volunteer green initiative that beautified the park, improved the environment, allowed residents to garden, and enhanced community spirit. He deserves the community’s thanks.
Thanks to our neighbors and fellow residents, for their kind words, support, and cheerful smiles. Finally, noteworthy were the city’s able and friendly DPW crew that offered suggestions, brought needed soil and water, and helped with heavy lifting. Henry Munker especially deserves great praise for supervising and coordinating his crew: Carlos DeJesus, Robert Castro, Pascual Santana, Jorge Ortiz, Andrew Frometa.
Such collaboration fosters goodwill, enhances our park, shows good husbandry of the earth, and serves as a model for our youth to involve themselves in other green projects.
With much appreciation,
Tony Squire,
Union City Neighborhood Association
