HOBOKEN — A lawsuit related to a request to have the city return tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions allegedly made to former Mayor Peter Cammarano was recently dismissed, town officials announced today.
Two Hoboken residents and a former Cammarano employee alleged in the lawsuit filed late last year that Cammarano’s election fund resulted in their loss of thousands of dollars. The lawsuit alleged that Cammarano created a Ponzi scheme to sustain his electoral race for mayor, allegedly accepting loans that were not repaid in full.
The lawsuit also sought compensatory, punitive, and other damages from the city.
