WNY mayor establishes Child Safety Seat Week

WEST NEW YORK — Mayor Felix Roque and the Board of Commissioners have declared the week of April 23 through 29 Child Safety Seat Week in West New York.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for children age three to 14, which hit home for the town when a child died on Boulevard East in March.
The event prompted Anne Rich of the West New York Emergency Medical Service to request the adoption of a proclamation to bring awareness to the necessity of child safety seats, with Police Director Michael Indri and Roque’s assistance.
“West New York has many children, each one precious and none to spare,” a press release concerning the initiative stated. Those who wish to have their child seats inspected should contact the West New York Police Traffic Department to make an appointment at (201) 295-5025.
