WEEHAWKEN — Three Weehawken Board of Education members were voted in Tuesday evening, along with the district’s $23.6 million dollar proposed budget, with 77.86 percent of the vote counted. The nine members of the board serve three-year terms on a rotating basis.
Of the five candidates running, two were incumbent. Richard Barsa and Joseph Rutigliano have served on the board for over 20 years, and were up against new candidates Ildefonso Acosta, Gabrielle Jonas, and Greg Moran.
Out of 2,182 total votes counted as of 10:45 p.m., Richard Barsa came out on top with 667 votes (30.57 percent), Joseph Rutigliano came in second with 573 votes (26.26 percent), and Gabrielle Jonas came in third with 461 votes (21.13 percent) according to the Hudson County Clerk’s website. Gregory Moran came in fourth with 319 votes (14.62 percent) and Ildefonso Acosta came in fifth with 160 votes (7.33 percent).
