Hall of Fame inductees announced
The Bayonne High School Hall of Fame committee has announced that the inductees for 2012 are Carmen Callari, Class of 1954; Clem Bozewski, Class of 1972; Douglas L. O’Neill, Class of 1967; and Dr. Jack Smith, Class of 1972. The ceremony will take place on April 24 at 7 p.m. in the BHS Auditorium, with light refreshments served in the library at 6 p.m. All previous inductees, families, and friends are encouraged to attend.
Art exhibit remains open at Bayonne Museum
Mayor Mark A. Smith reminded residents that Bayonne’s first citywide art exhibition will be open on weekdays, 5 to 7 p.m., from Monday, April 16, through Friday, April 20, and again from Monday, April 23, through Friday, April 27. The art show is located at the Bayonne Community Museum, 229 Broadway, at the corner of Ninth Street. The exhibit includes work by more than 60 artists who are residents of Bayonne.
County register of deeds to use electronic recording
Hudson County Register Pamela Gardner is proud to announce that on Tuesday, April 24, the office will launch its first electronic recording of real property documents. While the office will continue to receive paper documents in person and through mail delivery, Electronic Recording will be an alternative to conventional paper based documents. This is a plus as the county continues to “go green.” Electronic Recording promises to save time and cost for both the customers and the Hudson County Office of the Register of Deeds and Mortgages.
This new initiative comes at no additional cost to the county. The cost is incorporated in AMCAD’s contract, the Computerized Record Management System used by the Register’s Office. Simplifile will be the service provider to prepare the documents for transmittal in conjunction with AMCAD. As the percentages of electronic recorded documents grow, it will significantly contribute to moving the office forward with greater efficiency and effectiveness. The kickoff is planned for 11 a.m.

Relay for Life date changed
The Relay for Life Bayonne events will begin the evening of Saturday, June 16 and end early in the morning on Sunday, June 17. It was originally scheduled to run from Friday, June 15 to Saturday, June 16. The location for the event will be the same: Don Ahern Veterans Stadium at Bayonne High School, 669 Avenue A.

Bayonne Girl Scouts continue recruitment drive
The Girl Scouts of Bayonne is continuing its effort to see a few good volunteers to help round out the local troop leadership. Volunteers are needed to assist in running troops at each of the various program levels. Girl Scouts serves girls from Kindergarten to High School in six different programs by hosting meetings and activities that expand the girl’s horizons and help build leadership skills and confidence.
There are over 230 girls active in 18 troops throughout the community. The annual program includes events like ice skating, movie day, dances, badge events, camping, Craft-O-Rama and cookie sales. The girls are encouraged to serve the community and help others through civic service. Troops have made veterans’ donations, supported local food pantries, and worked for Cancer Awareness. Girl Scouts provides a safe and fun environment where girls can join with their peers and be themselves while making new friends, learning new things and serving the community.
Volunteers interested in supporting the program are encouraged to attend a meeting at the Richard Korpi Ice Rink behind Bayonne High School on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 p.m., where they can learn about the program and the various opportunities to make a difference in young girls’ lives.
