Lets remember why we’re really here

Dear Editor:
(This is not the opinion of the Secaucus Board of Education. This is the opinion of Gary Riebesell, Lisa Snedeker, John McStowe and Joseph Lewis.)
In light of recent events we, Gary Riebesell, Lisa Snedeker, John McStowe and Joseph Lewis, feel the need to address certain behavior that needs to be corrected. It seems that some board members have forgotten that the most important thing that we need to concern ourselves with is the future of the children of Secaucus, which is why we were elected.
Recently letters are being put into the local newspaper and comments are being made at public meetings that suggest that some people care more about a “political agenda” rather than doing what is best for the children. It is very important to point out that not all Board members agree with these comments and behavior. We firmly believe that inserting articles or making comments during a meeting does not benefit the children; it only benefits those individuals who care more about themselves than they do about helping the children.
The point is that raising issues in such a manner is not the forum to accomplish anything productive. Furthermore, issues that have already been solved need to be dropped so that new issues can be dealt with efficiently. We must all learn to set aside our own “personal politics” and agendas and remember that we are all here to better serve our children and our community. After all, isn’t that the reason we are all here in the first place?

Signed by Board members:
Gary Riebesell,
Lisa Snedeker
John McStowe
Joseph Lewis
