Two men wielding machetes allegedly attacked a man in front of 206 Broadway at about 2:18 a.m. on March 31, slashing his legs.
A police spokesperson said the man apparently knew the attackers, who allegedly drove up onto the sidewalk and leaped out to attack him.
The police said they are currently seeking the alleged suspects. The victim, who suffered slashes to his right leg, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
The police said this was not a random act, but would not comment on the details of the investigation.
Busted twice
Jordon R. Turley, 21, of Bayonne, was arrested twice for alleged drug activities within a four-day period.
A police spokesperson said a patrol car stopped the 1989 brown Ford Mustang convertible Turley was driving near Avenue E and East 19th Street because it was overflowing with people.
The police reported smelling the scent of raw marijuana and called for Dylan, the drug-sniffing K-9, who, according to the police spokesperson, indicated possible drugs in the trunk of the car.
The police said they found eight small clear plastic bags allegedly containing suspected marijuana.
Turley was charged with possession of suspected marijuana under 50 grams and released on a summons.
On April 3, police officers said they saw two men allegedly making an drug deal near Mechanic Street and Avenue F at about 11:20 p.m.
Turley had allegedly sold marijuana to Christopher Soldivieri, 21, of Bayonne.
Soldivieri was charged with possession and released on a summons. Turley was charged with distribution of CDS, and distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, and was also released with a summons.
DWI charged after Seventh Street crash
After allegedly striking two cars parked on the opposite side of Seventh Street at about 7:57 p.m. on March 27, Warren Douglas, 47, of Bayonne was charged with driving while intoxicated and DWI within 1,000 feet of a school.
A police spokesperson said investigating officers allegedly found an empty bottle of brandy inside the Nissan Douglas was driving.
A police spokesperson said Douglas allegedly refused to take a breath test, and was issued five summons related to the accident.
Bumper with license plate leads to DWI arrest
When police responded to a report of a downed utility pole near 46th Street and Broadway at about 1:57 a.m. on April 4, they found the bumper of a car with the license plate still attached.
A police spokesperson said officers went to the address to which the plate was registered, where they found Philip Karpinski, 21, allegedly intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, and DWI within 1,000 feet of a school. He was issued four summonses, including leaving the scene of an accident, and then later released.
Shoplifting charge leads JC man to county jail
Richard Smith, 39, of Jersey City, was charged with shoplifting from Shop Rite on March 27 after he allegedly attempted to take $169.60 worth of meat.
A police spokesperson said store security called the police when they saw Smith allegedly put the meat into a backpack and attempted to leave the store without paying.
The police report said that during a routine search of Smith, a hypodermic needle was allegedly found in his possession. A background check discovered that he had $500 in outstanding unpaid fines to Roxbury. Smith was sent to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.
Man charged with alleged theft of baby formula
Karol J. Lausz, 27, of Bayonne, was charged with shoplifting on March 29 after he allegedly attempted to leave the Shop Rite with $148.90 worth of baby formula.
