Dear Editor:
Once again good news is coming to our community of Union City. After many months of working with Republican Governor Chris Christie, New Jersey State Green Acres program and the township of Weehawken-Mayor and state
Senator Brian P. Stack was able to get into an agreement with Weehawken that allows for a 50/50 ownership of the Reservoir on Palisade Avenue between 20th and 22nd Street.
During the next few years, this property will benefit from additions such as walking trail, passive park space and other natural beauty. Most importantly Union City will gain a 14 Acre site as a park and maintain this haven as space that will be open for future generations to enjoy. This project is a huge win for the community of Union City. If this agreement was not a done deal, a private developer would have purchased this property and Union City would not have received one dollar to be applied to the city tax rolls. In the future this majestic site will be the talk of other Hudson County towns.
Respectfully,
Oscar Cordero
