Weehawken Recreation to hold golf lessons
Weehawken Recreation will hold golf chipping and putting lessons at the Weehawken Waterfront Complex Putting Green on Monday, April 2 through Monday, April 23 for Weehawken residents ages 18 and up from 7 to 8 p.m.

Weehawken Recreation to hold adult tennis lesson registration
All classes will be held at the Weehawken Waterfront Complex and must be paid for when registering. Lessons consist of two 1.15 hour classes per week. Total cost for the six week session is $120.
There will be two class choices: one held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. or 7:45 to 9 p.m. from May 7 through June 18. The second will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. or 7:45 to 9 p.m. from May 8 through June 14.
Class sizes are limited to eight players per class and are for Weehawken residents only on a first-come, first-serve basis. Proof of residency is required. The lessons are sponsored by Mayor Richard Turner and the Township Council.

Weehawken Library and HCCC to hold computer training classes
The Weehawken Library in conjunction with Hudson County Community College (HCCC) will offer classes to job seekers at the library to help improve patrons’ computer and job search skills. All courses will be delivered at a basic user level and are four hours long in total.
The program is free of charge and runs April 2 through 25, Mondays and Wednesdays, 1 to 3 p.m.
Registration is required for this program and space is limited.

Weehawken Recreation to hold annual Easter egg hunt
On Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m., Weehawken Recreation will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at Louisa Park on Boulevard East. The Easter Bunny and friends will pose for photos, and there will be prizes and balloons. In case of rain, please go to the Weehawken High School Gym located a Highwood Ave. entrance.
The event is for Weehawken residents between the ages of three and eight and is sponsored by Mayor Richard F. Turner and the Township Council
Weehawken to sponsor 26th Annual Lincoln Tunnel Challenge
The Township of Weehawken will sponsor the home team for the 2012 Lincoln Tunnel Challenge on Sunday, April 29.
The event will raise money for the Special Olympics of New Jersey for the 26th year in a row. Last year, the home team had over 80 members.
Weehawken residents interested in participating and joining the Weehawken Home Team 2012 must register online at lincolntunnelchallenge.sonj.org under the team name of “Weehawken Home Team 2012.” The team members will walk or run five kilometers through the Lincoln Tunnel.
There is a $25 registration fee payable online before April 19. Residents may also make an online donation in the team’s name. The registration fee or donation goes directly to the Special Olympics of New Jersey.

NJ Festival of Ballooning to hold statewide contest
PNC Bank and the Quick Chek N.J. Festival of Ballooning invite students in grades 2 through 12 to take part in the 9th annual PNC Bank American Patriot Essay Contest by writing a short essay on the topic “What the American Flag Means to Me.”
The largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America will celebrate its 30th anniversary July 27 through 29 at Solberg Airport in Readington and will feature the PNC Bank American Flag balloon: the largest free-flying flag in the world.
This year’s Grand Prize winner will receive a visit to his or her school by a 75-foot-tall hot air balloon in June and a special VIP package at this year’s festival: a hot air balloon ride for two, four Blue Sky Club VIP tickets, and the opportunity to meet one of this year’s concert headliners, which have included the Jonas Brothers and Disney stars Demi Lovato and Emily Osment in the past.
Second and third place prizes will include festival admission and merchandise.
The winning student’s immediate classmates will each receive one complimentary general admission ticket to the festival and the winning student’s teacher and school principal will each receive two Blue Sky Club VIP tickets.
Every teacher in the state who submits a group of 15 essays or more on behalf of their students will receive two free general admission tickets to the festival regardless of whether one of their students submits the winning essay.
The essays should be 100 words or less. They will be judged by a panel of representatives from PNC Bank and the balloon festival. Winning essays will be selected based on creativity, poignancy and clarity with consideration given to the grade level of the contestant. Contestants are not required to be U.S. citizens.
Entries should include the student’s name, home or school address, home or school telephone number, grade, age, school name and the name of their teacher.
