Dear Editor:
Today early morning I was reading the newspaper and was surprised to see that it did not have much news of a high cultural or artistic nature. The city where I live really lacks this key element for life and I should pay attention because city officials do not even know that culture is part of education, and the arts make possible a higher degree of intellectual development. Or is it that the leaders do not know what is culture and the arts?
A few months ago I sent to the mayor a letter saying that an abandoned building for over 15 years should be used by the city to become a cultural center and I got no response. José Marti said he was educated to be free.
Remember, a people without culture is not free.
Cultural greetings,
Jesus Rivera
