Eat Italian food to benefit local charity for needy
In Jesus’ Name Charities in Hoboken is a collective and spiritual response to poverty in the local community, in which people may do small acts of kindness and sharing to comfort and help their neighbors in need. The charity runs a food bank and helps the needy in other ways.
Enjoy a sampling of some of the finest signature pasta dishes, coal fired pizza, and wings at San Giuseppe Restaurant 1320 Adams St., on March 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. The suggested donation of $10 per person will go toward the charity. The restaurant is located in Peachtree Commons next to Clearview Cinema. Free parking. Cash only and no BYOB on this day.

Cut-a-thon will help families displaced by fire
On March 18 from 6 to 8 p.m., Supercuts at Fifth and Washington will hold a cut-a-thon in which all money from haircuts will be donated to families who lost their homes in the fire at 300 Washington St. two weeks ago.

Children’s Theater Company presents ‘Teen Detective’
The Hoboken Children’s Theater Company will present “Brenda Bly: Teen Detective” this coming weekend. The show, rated PG, is fun for the whole family. The Hoboken Children’s Theater Company produces professional level musicals with teens from all around Hudson County. In the cast of this production of “Brenda Bly: Teen Detective,” Hoboken, Weehawken, Bayonne, and Jersey City are represented.
The plot: It’s 1958, a time of rock and roll, space discovery, and great hope for a bright future. But trouble is brewing at the Whitney Ellis Private School for Girls. Only days away from the opening night of the school musical, “Rocket Girl,” the leading lady is knocked unconscious with a sandbag. It is up to our favorite teenage sleuth, Brenda Bly, to solve the crime, catch the crook and save the day. Great music, comic performances, and HCTC’s trademark harmonies will have you coming back again.
Performances at the 720 Monroe St. theater space, second floor, run Thursday, March 15 through Saturday, March 17, at 7 p.m. Sunday, they run 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are $15.

A special concert experience direct from Barcelona, Spain comes to the stage at Right Angle Uptown, located at 1108 Washington St. on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. Renowned “Spanish guitar master” Pedro Javier González will perform flamenco in its purest essence in the modern day fusion style as part of his current U.S. tour.

‘Cake Boss’ will participate in delicious fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital
The fifth annual “Cooking for Kids” fundraiser will be held Monday, April 30 for the St. Josephs’ Children’s Hospital, located at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. The event will take place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel at 2 Meadowlands Plaza in East Rutherford.
The event will feature gourmet cooking from several prized chefs in the area, including a representative from Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken.
This marks the fifth year of this event, which last year attracted more than 900 guests. There is a fee of $200 for general admission, and $250 for an Exclusive VIP Ticket, which includes a special VIP gift bag.

‘Field Station: Dinosaurs’ meet and greet in Secaucus; jobs available
Staff from “Field Station: Dinosaurs,” the new family attraction scheduled to open in the Meadowlands on May 26, will host a “meet and greet” at Secaucus Library on March 12 at 7 p.m. Making a special appearance will be the highly interactive 15-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex. Staff will discuss job opportunities with local residents.
Executive Producer Guy Gsell said, “We’re not just looking for employees, because the Field Station is more than just a job. We’re a school, we’re a camp, and we’re your neighbors. We want people who are ready to learn, ready to have fun, and ready to share with others. From what I’ve seen, that describes a lot of people in Secaucus.”

Multiple Sclerosis Hudson County self-help group meeting
The next meeting of the recently formed Multiple Sclerosis Hudson County Self-Help Group will be held March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Secaucus Public Library. This month’s speaker is from the NJ Library for Braille & Talking Books. The purpose of this self-help group is to allow members to connect with others who either have Multiple Sclerosis, have a family member who has MS, or are a caregiver or friend. The meetings are open and informal. The agenda each month will include open group discussions and networking, or a speaker on a relevant topic for those within the MS family.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Upcoming meeting topics are scheduled for March 13 – NJ Library for Braille & Talking Books; April 10 is open; and May and June meetings will feature different medical speakers from Ampara and EMD Selerno (Rebif).
