Bringing health to your home

Local fitness guru hosts successful TV show

Lifelong North Bergen resident Alycia Kluegl has dedicated her life to making people healthier.
As an exercise physiologist and nutritionist, Kluegl launched her health and fitness business, “Empower Your Body,” 10 years ago to help promote health and wellness in the Hudson County area. Through her company, Kluegl provides health consulting to clients through training techniques, fitness tips, dieting plans, and more.
“I just adore what I do,” said Kluegl, who decided to start her own business after working in several cardiac rehabilitation departments and corporate fitness facilities.
“Eventually, I decided that I don’t want to work for anybody,” said Kluegl. “So I started “Empower Your Body.” Our mission is to improve the overall wellness of humanity.”
In order to accomplish this end, Kluegl’s company offers services such as personal training, yoga classes, and massage therapy programs.
“It’s not just about eating tofu, running, and being skinny,” adds Kleugl. “It’s about being happy and healthy.”
Kluegl’s business also offers several services, including 30-day wellness programs, private lectures, professional workshops, and a one-on-one training program featuring a home-delivery service prepared by two staffed chefs.
“It’s a tailor-made menu,” said Kluegl, adding that it carries the benefit of providing fresh food to clients.
Kleugl also has become a local celebrity in North Bergen.
“I have had great success with many North Bergen residents,” said Kluegl, adding that she often plays tennis in James J. Braddock North Hudson Park and jogs along Boulevard East, often running into people who recognize her.
With the help of a successful public access television show – which is now offered on a variety of cable providers – Kluegl’s company has since expanded to serve additional counties in the NY/NJ area. Her YouTube channel, which provides internet users with access to her show, has over 2.5 million views, and nearly 12,000 subscribers.

Inside the show

Kluegl’s cable show, which she films in the Parker Imperial in North Bergen, features a common theme every week. For her upcoming spring episode, Kluegl will discuss common outdoor exercises, and how to prepare for “tank top season.”
Each episode also three segments: “Fit Tip,” “Power Three,” and “Aspire Higher.”
In “Fit Tip,” Kluegl discusses nutritional information and provides tips on how to achieve an effective and efficient diet. For her upcoming spring episode, Kluegl will detail information on the benefits of various fruits and vegetables currently in season.
During “Power Three,” Kluegl shares three exercises with a tie to the theme of the show.
“It’s not really your traditional exercise show where you see some girl jumping around,” said Kluegl, “and everybody is just watching it cause she’s jumping around. It’s more educational and instructional.”
Kluegl added that she discusses which muscles are being used, and how they pertain to specific goals, such as fat loss or muscle gain.
Kluegl dedicates her final segment of each show, “Aspire High,” after her grandmother.
“It focuses on anything from appreciating life to having principals and integrity,” said Kluegl. “It’s about appreciation and happiness. It’s about that part of wellness that a lot of people forget.”
