The Club of West New York Cuban Lions celebrated the week of Jose Marti

The Club of West New York Cuban Lions celebrated the week of Jose Marti from January 25-30, commemorating the 159th anniversary of the apostle José Martí.
Wednesday January 25th they held an event in honor of their patriot Jose Marti in the evening at Meson Madrid. With the award of the literary competition “The Golden Age” and the annual survey of three young men chosen for their literary works of José Martí, First Prize was $ 500.00 for student Jean Paul Sandoval. $ 300.00 Second Prize and $200 Third Prize went to Dalyn Santos and Jorge Paneque. “The New Pines” honor was given to member and director Vivian Gonzalez for her continued work in the Club and dedication to the handicapped (blind) kids.
On Monday January 30 a gift of a basket of baby items and a baby’s crib was given in honor of Marti to the first newborn in the Palisades Medical Center: Alyssa Velazquez Olivia Alicea. Congratulations to the Father Jonathan and his mom Olivia Alyssa.
On Sunday January 29 at 12:30 between poetry and remembering the patriot’s life, they placed a wreath at the bust in memory of Jose Marti at Boulevard East and 54th Street corner in West New York.
The Club of West New York Cuban Lions demonstrated that aid to our communities is important in their agenda.
