Maurice

Dear Editor:
Maurice Fitzgibbons was a truly unique, kind and gentle person. He was my cousin and I miss him terribly. Growing up together in Hoboken he would reassure me that the coke bottle glasses I wore as a youngster didn’t look too bad; in fact he wished he could wear them too. So he told a white lie.
I always worried that he was much too nice to get involved in politics but he said he could handle it. And he did it with grace and goodness. Whenever I meet people and they heard my last name, it never failed that they would ask if I was related to Maurice. And I was proud to say that I was.
The only comfort that I get knowing that Maurice has passed on is that he can once again visit with his late father, Mickey, our grandparents Cecilia and Maurice Fitzgibbons and my mother Katherine Fitzgibbons when he goes to heaven. He will have many aunts and uncles on his mothers side to visit with and in true Maurice fashion I am sure he will be in charge of the festivities making sure everyone is having a grand time. I love you Maurice. God bless you.

Mary Fitzgibbons
