‘Stand with me’

To the Editor:
My name is Washington Flores, and I am a resident of New Jersey’s newly redistricted 8th Congressional District. For years, we have been represented by a political machine that has not had the interest of the people in mind. I believe our current congressman has failed us. He is not accessible and is only seen when there is a chance for a photo-op.
The policies he has supported have been a failure, leading to high unemployment, increased taxes, and a federal deficit our children and grandchildren will be paying off for decades. We can no longer continue to go down this path because it is unsustainable. We must hold our representatives accountable for wastefully spending our money. We must unleash the power of the private sector and create an environment that will promote investment and job creation.
This year is a critical time in our nation’s history. The 2012 elections will determine our future for the next 20 years. In this upcoming election, we must decide whether or not we support individual liberty. It is bigger than a republican against a democrat. This election is about free markets vs. government controlled markets, personal property rights vs. no property rights, free society vs. socialist society. We cannot sit on the sidelines and watch as people try to fundamentally change the greatest country in the world.
This is why I have decided, with the support of my family, to seek the office of United States House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 8th District. It is time that we are represented by someone who truly understands the needs of hard working people. I ask you to stand with me if you believe in liberty and preserving this great nation, which many have given their lives to create and protect.
