Kennedy Dancers offers low-cost classes to seniors

The Kennedy Dancers Inc. a non-profit dance school , professional dance company, Inner City Youth Jr. Dance Company, and Producers of Dance Vista Television series (seen in 24 states) located at 79 Central Ave., Jersey City, announce their new fall schedule of classes specifically for mature adults (62 years of age and over).
Through Aug. 12, 2012, the Kennedy Dancers Studio will offer dance and dance/fitness classes for fun, improved health, recreation and performance opportunities for mature adults.
The schedule of classes are exactly the same every week, here they are listed below:
Mondays 1 p.m. to 1:45 pm Zumba Gold (dance fitness)
Tuesdays 1 p.m. -1:45 pm Belli Dance
Wednesdays 1 p.m. -1:45 pm Hatha Yoga
Thursdays 1 p.m.-1:45 pm Latin Dance also Thursdays 2pm -3:30pm Kennedy Dancers Mature Modern Company technique and rehearsal program.
Fridays 1 p.m. – 1:45 pm Zumba Gold

The above classes are specifically designed for the mature person’s body with on focus on interests and ability.
All senior dancers must wear appropriate dance shoes; no outside shoes.
Belli Dance requires Dance Paws $16.99, and a coin skirt between $22.99 and $27.99 and a veil, between $12 and $17.
Latin Social Dance requires basic Ballroom/character shoes $32.99 or Jazz shoes $32.99 Men’s very basic Ballroom shoes are usually $25.
Zumba requires one of these three shoes jazz shoes $32.99/dance sneakers $40/ballet slippers$16.99.
Dance shoes and dance supplies can be purchased at the Kennedy Dancers Studio. All purchase of supplies/dance shoes are tax deductible.
There is a change in class fees. At one time all classes were totally free. Now, due to the economic climate, there is less funding available. All registered Mature Adults are requested to make a $10 donation and may take as many as 5 classes weekly.
The Kennedy Dancers Inc. is a non-profit 501C 3 organization, whose Mature Adult programs are funded in part by: The New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Dept. of State, a partner of the National Endowment for the Arts and by funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, Jersey City Community Development Block Grant, and the Hudson County Office on the Aging.
All fees charged are used to defray the costs of the many outreach programs.
