Dear Editor:
I am writing in response to the latest barrage of articles written against the sale of Christ Hospital to Prime Healthcare Services. Being a life-long Jersey City resident and having benefited from the healthcare services provided to me on many occasions, I know how important Christ Hospital is to the health and well-being of the residents of our community.
I also attended the town hall meeting held several weeks ago in which the “neutral” parties monitoring this one-sided meeting seemed to cut officials of Christ Hospital off each time they tried to give an answer. Even more curious, is the latest “offer” to buy Christ Hospital by Hudson Holdco that alleges how Liberty Health System was to be included as a partner in this agreement. Again, this is another ploy to open up criticism about Christ Hospital at a time when they need our support, not our negativity.
No one likes change, but this is the best thing for our hospital right now. Prime Healthcare Services has put forth a bona fide offer to keep our community hospital financially solvent. They have committed to provide funds to improve the facilities and medical services. So I wonder why the “Save Christ Hospital” group is opposing this sale, when this is exactly what Prime is doing. Prime has a proven track record of making institutions like Christ Hospital thrive with quality medical care. It is time we all stand behind Christ Hospital and show our support for an outstanding institution.
Sincerely,
Teresa C. Saltarella
