Dear Editor:
I have been a resident in Hoboken for 2 years. It’s my first home away from home and the start of being on my own and struggling to make a name for myself in the Real Estate business. I am loving every second of it. However, Hoboken has finally started losing my love. I believe the parking authority and the mayor are out of control. They want me here to vote for them, to support local businesses, and I rent and sell Hoboken homes every day. Yet, they will not issue me a residential parking permit because my car insurance is under my parent’s names. I am a young professional who is just out of college and cannot afford to have my insurance go up in the result of putting it in my name. Also, I cannot afford a garage spot or to keep removing boots from my car for parking in Hoboken over 4 hours. I know there are many other residents here that are in the same predicament that I am in. I urge the mayor to reconsider the criteria for obtaining a residential parking permit and think of the type of citizens Hoboken is made of.
