Funeral mass took place Nov. 26 at St. Michael’s Church Jersey City for Jean M. (Murray) Zaucha, 85. She passed away at her Jersey City residence on Nov. 21. A lifelong Jersey City resident, Jean worked at Mid Hudson Warehouse before starting her family. She later worked as a kindergarten teacher at St. Michael’s and as the secretary to the principal of St. Michael’s High School and lastly as Principal Clerk of Jersey City PS 6 until retiring over ten years ago. Jean was an active member of her community, volunteering her time as a Girl Scout leader and as a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, where she served on the Rosary and Altar Societies.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Edward R. Zaucha; son-in-law Michael Lenahan, sisters, Grace Sidloski and Ann Boyle and brothers,Vincent and Dennis Murray. She is survived by her children, John “Jack” Zaucha and wife Sharon, Edward Zaucha and wife Marianne, Mary Jane Gosselin and husband Bill, Peggy Lenahan and Jim Zaucha and wife Laurie; brother Raymond Murray and wife Maxine, sisters, Patricia Farrell and husband Bob and Margaret Renz and husband Bruce; sister-in-law Sarah Murray; grandchildren, Lynn Anne, Jack, Diana, Tom, Jennie, Andrew, Jack, Kate, Courtney and Ryan. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
