Archbishop Francis A. Chullikatt, currently the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations (Pope Benedict’s Ambassador to the United
Nations) blessed the newly renovated Parish Center and Pope Benedict XVI House at Ss Peter and Paul Church, 404 Hudson Street, Hoboken, NJ on September 18, 2011.
The Pope Benedict XVI house will serve as the residence for four international interns, working for the Holy See at the United Nations as well as 4 interns serving Ss Peter and Paul parish in the areas of youth ministry, young adult ministry, sacramental preparation and technology programmings. The building will also house a parish center and office, two new meeting rooms for meetings of the parish as well as outside groups. The house was furnished by parishioners who donated through a “registry” at Bed Bath and Beyond.
The intern program has been cited as a unique model of ministry, by involving young people and capitalizing on those trained in ministry.
On behalf of the entire parish, Msgr. Robert S. Meyer, pastor, expresses his gratitude to Archbishop Chullikatt for blessing the Pope Benedict XVI House.
