A funeral mass took place Nov. 29 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City, for Katherine (Messano) DeRosa, 101, a lifelong Jersey City resident. She passed away Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Michelina (Sabbio) and Carmine Messano; wife of the late Dominick DeRosa; mother of William DeRosa (president of the Hudson County Retired Educators Association and member of the Jersey City Board of Education) and his wife, Anita Russoniello DeRosa, and Maryann DeRosa Macagnano and her husband Anthony; grandmother of Lisa Fabrizio and her husband Michael, and Dina Kincel and her husband Robert; great-grandmother of Gabriella, Zachary, and Matthew Fabrizio, Owen, Madelyn and Lucas Kincel; sister of the late James, Louis, Antoinette Savasta, Joseph, Alphonse, Barbara Pestrichello, Thomas and Ralph Messano; and sister-in-law of Josephine Messano.
