“Bayonne Kids Count, Too!”

To the Editor:
Dear Friend of Education:
It causes me a great deal of concern knowing that the Bayonne School District has been underfunded by the State of New Jersey for the past several years. This amounts to a loss of tens of millions of dollars for services provided to the children of Bayonne. For the first time in 30 years, New Jersey has a funding formula that is fair and equitable, and if funded from year to year provides local educators with a predictable, stable level of funding needed for student success. We must make sure our legislators pass a budget next year that delivers full funding to every student, wherever they attend school. The children in Bayonne are entitled to, and deserve, no less.
Please join us on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Alexander X. O’Connor Auditorium
(Bayonne High School Auditorium – 669 Ave. A) to support us in the “Bayonne Kids Count, Too!” campaign.
Together with our parents, city leaders, and the citizens of Bayonne, we can work as influential allies in our venture for equity and fairness to provide our students with a sufficient level of funding to achieve rigorous academic standards and allocate more funding to students with greater needs.
Bayonne Public Schools depend upon the funding offered to our students. Our students have benefited for many years with the exceptional educational experiences offered in our schools. We want our children to continue to have the opportunity to be successful in a changing world.
Help us convince the decision-makers for the State of New Jersey to provide our students with a sufficient level of funding to achieve rigorous academic standards and allocate more funding to students with greater needs to meet the challenges of the 21st century educational world.
