Holiday Hudson Reporter advertising deadlines
Because of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, some of the Hudson Reporter newspapers will have special advertising deadlines.
For The Secaucus Reporter, The North Bergen Reporter, The Union City Reporter, The West New York Reporter, and The Weehawken Reporter, the deadline for classified and display advertising is Tuesday, Nov. 22, at noon.
The Hoboken Reporter and The Jersey City Reporter, the deadline for display advertising is Wednesday. Nov. 23,at noon.

Driver charged in fatal accident
The alleged driver in a fatal accident that occurred Thursday, Sept. 22 on West Side Avenue in North Bergen turned himself in on Wednesday, Nov. 9, police said. A warrant had been out for his arrest, according to Lt. Frank Mena of the North Bergen Police.
The victim in the incident, a Union City High School senior, was killed in the one-car accident. The student was a passenger in the vehicle. The alleged driver, Leonardo Luna, 20, Union City, was charged with death by auto, police say.
High Tech High School will hold fundraiser
High Tech High School, at 2000 85th Street in North Bergen, will hold an “‘Everything’ Flea Market, Craft and Collectible Show” on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 to 5 p.m.
The fundraiser will have 50+ exhibitors displaying an array of quality merchandise such as sports collectibles, handbags, clothing, jewelry, gloves and scarves, gift items, dollar items, collectibles, and more.
The event will be held by JC Promotions, a professional fundraising company that produces flea markets, festivals, arts and crafts shows, and more throughout New Jersey. The company is offering 4 free spaces to any school organization interested in having an exhibitor space to sell their items.

Third annual Thanksgiving luncheon at Woodcliff Community Church
The Third annual free Thanksgiving luncheon will take place at Woodcliff Community Church at 7605 Palisade Avenue, North Bergen on Nov. 24 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Local cats up for adoption this weekend
Local animal rescue groups will be showcasing their most adoptable felines at the Meadowlands Pet Expo all weekend. Hudson County’s own Liberty Humane Society and TLC Rescue are partnering at the expo, which takes place at the Meadowlands Expo Center at 355 Plaza Drive in Secaucus.

11th annual ‘Shout Down Drugs’ music competition kicks off
The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey and United Way of Hudson County have launched the 11th annual “Hudson County “Shout Down Drugs” music competition.
High School students are encouraged to submit their own original substance abuse prevention songs, complete with their own lyrics and music. Interested students should contact their school principal, music department or substance abuse awareness coordinator to submit their song no later than Thursday, Jan. 12.
Participants will compete in a countywide concert at Newport Centre Mall in Jersey City on Friday, April 20, 2012. Participants will have a chance to win a $1,000 music contract with PDFNJ and United Way of Hudson County to perform their winning song at events, attend a professional music recording, and have their song produced onto a CD for countywide distribution.
