To the Editor:
Recently our church basement became flooded with so much water as a result of heavy rains and underground springs. We approached Engine Company No. 3 located on 27th Street and Avenue C and asked for their help in pumping out the water.
Within a few minutes Engine Company No. 3 appeared at our door and immediately took charge of the situation. Shortly thereafter, Rescue Company 1 arrived on the scene. Captains McMonagle and Nelson, Firefighters Duffy, Sisk, Pavano (and others whose names unfortunately we did not obtain), and the rescue technicians did an outstanding job of clearing out the water from the basement. It was not an easy task! The firefighters will attest to that!
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church is very much indebted to all the firefighters for their extraordinary efforts. They will be remembered in our prayers! May God’s choicest blessings be with all of you!
