Funeral mass took place Nov. 5 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Jersey City, for Thomas Joseph Quirke, 79. He passed away Nov. 2 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. Born in County Tipperary, Ireland, Thomas immigrated to the United States as a young boy. He met and married his wife, Aminta, and the two raised their family in New York before moving and settling in Jersey City in the 1980s. Mr. Quirke was employed as Security Manager for the San Remo on Central Park West in New York City before retiring several years ago. He was active in many New York organizations and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Jersey City. Thomas is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, the late Aminta (nee Acuna) Quirke and his brother Eugene Quirke. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Quirke) Roman and Carol Quirke; son-in-law, Armando Roman, Fire Director for the City of Jersey City; and grandchildren, Major Tayana, USAF, and her husband Master Sergeant Phillip Stevens, USAF; Alikee, Armando, Jr., Amanda and Matthew.
