LUONGO, THOMAS V

Funeral mass was offered Nov. 8 at St. Anne’s R.C. Church for Thomas V. Luongo. “Tippy,” 84, a lifelong Hoboken resident, passed away at home Nov. 4 surrounded by his family. Mr. Luongo served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp Reserve, being discharged in 1946 then enlisting in the United States Navy, being discharged in 1950 and again deployed in the United States Army, being discharged in 1956; all of which were honorable discharges. In 1974 he established Luongo Plumbing and Heating Company in Hoboken, presently run by his son Robert since Mr. Luongo’s retirement in 1991. Prior to 1974 he worked with his late father Thomas Luongo with the Pascale and Luongo Plumbing Firm also in Hoboken. Thomas was a longtime member of the New Jersey State League of Master Plumbers. Surviving is his wife Antoinette (nee Sozio) ‘Netta’ Luongo; two sons, Thomas L. III and his wife Madeline and Robert L. and his wife Denise and his only sister Marie Totaro. Mr. Luongo was a special grandfather to Eric, Kira, Thomas and Matthew Luongo. Also surviving are two nieces, Rosemarie Totaro and Francine Formoso, as well as a host of other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
