A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 27 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Avon-By-The-Sea, for Walter Lewis Kudlacik, 65, longtime resident of Jersey City. He died peacefully at his home in Neptune on Oct. 22 after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends. A graduate of St. Aloysius Elementary School, Marist High School, and St. Peter’s College, Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam War as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Calvary Division. After a long career in manufacturing with Milton Can Company, Walter retired to the NJ Shore. An avid pool player and dedicated golfer, Walter could be found on the links – rain, snow, or shine. Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Order of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore, and the American Poolplayers Association. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter ‘Ben’ and Alice (Sutcliffe) Kudlacik. Walter is survived by his wife Ellen Marie (Kelly) Kudlacik, daughter, Kristen, and her husband William Mountford of Sea Girt; son, Scott, and his wife Eileen of Scituate, MA; grandchildren, Elle Lake Mountford and Katherine Carson Mountford; brother George and his wife Sheila; brother William; brother Robert and his wife Sharon; brother Lenny and his wife Loo Ding; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
