Dear Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank former Freeholder Maurice Fitzgibbons, Assemblyman Ruben Ramos and Freeholder Anthony Romano, as well as Mayor Dawn Zimmer, who, together and separately, bestowed upon me the honor of naming me the 2011 Italian American Citizen of the Year during the Annual Columbus Day Luncheon at the Hoboken Elks Club on October10. The luncheon was attended by more than 200 friends and family.
I believe this will become one of my most cherished memories since my involvement in the community was never done for recognition but simply for my love of Hoboken and its people. My family has been in Hoboken for more than one hundred years and I have never desired to live anywhere else. What place could possibly compare with our beautiful and beloved city?
I wish also to thank all those who attended this luncheon and my fellow Rotarians who helped serve the delicious food. This was an incredible experience for me and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
