“Its our town, and we have to keep it clean.”

Dear Editor:
“It’s our town and we have to keep it clean”. It’s 5 p.m. Columbus Day, I’m finishing up the day and taking a Pizza Break at Basiles across from the CVS. I take the pizza to go and walk over to CVS. I go to throw away the paper plate and napkin and as I glance at the corner I see that the trash can is piled high above the rim and there is no way it can take any more garbage. Since it is right on the Carlos waiting line I complain to myself about the Carlos crowd and how it creates a burden on our City. But as I’m walking away I see one of the Pizza workers and what looks like his boss approach the Trash container, I watch as the worker bags the garbage and the boss sweeps around the can to clean up the overflow. Now this is across the street from Basiles’ and I just have to know what is going on. Turns out the boss was Russel Basile, the owner of the business, and when I asked him why he was doing this, he said, “Its our town, and we have to keep it clean.” as he continued to bag the garbage. Cool very cool.
