A mass of Christian burial was offered Oct. 19 at St. Aloysius Church for Catherine L. Deloughery, 85, affectionately known to everyone as “Aunt Kay.” She passed away Oct. 16. Kay was a lifelong resident of Jersey City and a long and faithful communicant of St. Aloysius Parish. She was a member of The Holy Rosary Society, a longtime member of the bowling league and a regular patron of church bingo. Kay owned and operated The Orbit Restaurant in Jersey City for most of the 1970s. She will be deeply missed by everyone in the neighborhood and parish community. Kay was predeceased on Dec. 5, 1968 by her husband William L. “ Red” Deloughery, Sr. She was the mother of Thomas Deloughery and his wife Geri, James Deloughery and his wife Kathy, Michael and Timothy Deloughery and the late Larry and John Deloughery; grandmother of Major Cheryl Deloughery, USAF and her husband Major Andrew Lauer, USAF, Kathleen Deloughery, PhD, Michael DiCiancia, James and Peter Deloughery, great grandmother of Lauren Lauer; sister of the late Mary Lowther, Francis and Jack Banghart; special “Grandma Kay” to Lori Ward and family; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
