Dear Editor:
Rose Perry has been a faithful and effective member of the Library Board of Trustees for the past five years. The Library has benefited greatly from Rose’s experiences as a long-time educator, school official and a community leader with a strong historical perspective of our city. Rose has made innumerable contributions to the Library, serving on various committees of the Board of Trustees. She was actively involved with fund-raising, creation of the library strategic plan as a member of the planning committee, and served on both personnel and the building and grounds committees.
As a mother and grandmother, and as an educator in contact with dozens of children every day as the head of the Hoboken Catholic Academy, Rose’s effectiveness is further multiplied.
I have had the pleasure of serving with Mrs. Perry the past five years. In more than 20 years as a member of the Friends of the Library and as president and currently treasurer of the Library Board of Trustees, I have seen few people as dedicated or committed to the needs of the library. The entire Hoboken community owes her a huge thank-you for her dedication and service.
Unfortunately, Mayor Dawn Zimmer has decided not to reappoint this great leader to the Library Board of Trustees. I consider this a big loss for the library and the community.
