A mass of Christian burial was held Sept. 28 at St. Aloysius Church for Frank J. Cunningham, 76. Affectionately known to everyone as “Red”, he passed away Sept. 23. Frank was born in Jersey City and was a lifelong resident until moving to Springfield, NJ in 1989. He was a tractor trailer driver and a member of Teamsters Local 560 before retiring in 1996 as well as a veteran of the United States Naval Reserve. While in Jersey City, Frank was active in St. Aloysius Parish for many years. Besides his love for his family, one of his passions was his generous love for the care and well being of animals, giving of himself as a volunteer to the Linden Animal Shelter. He adopted four cats from the shelter and often donated the medical help they and other animals required when in need. “Red” will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife Helen (nee Moersdorf) Cunningham; father of Frank Jr., M.D. and wife Mary Beth, Glenn, Shawn, Mark and wife Jamie, Michael, NYPD, and Neil, Ret. Hudson County Sheriff Dept. and fiance Gloria; grandfather of Glenn Jr. and wife Jessica, Kimberly, Erin, Leah, Mark Jr., Aidan and Jacob; great-grandfather of Christopher; brother of Jean Cook and the late Patricia Martinez; brother-in-law of Geraldine Moersdorf, Charles Moersdorf and wife Carol and Phyllis Moersdorf; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
