A funeral took place Sept. 7 at Sts. Joseph & Michael’s RC Church, Union City, for Luis Velazco, 86. He passed away Sept. 4 at the Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen. He was born in Guarjai, Cuba. Luis was a machine operator for Jiffy Manufacturing Corporation in East Brunswick for 25 years; he had been retired for several years. Surviving him is his wife Gladys (nee Gonzalez). He was the father of Aleida Lopes and father-in-law of Joe Lopes; friend of Julio Santoyo; and grandfather of Angelette and Anthony.
