To the Editor:
Hurricane Irene ravaged New Jersey and other states along the eastern seaboard, leaving floods, downed trees, and fallen electrical wires in her wake.
With miles of damage – both severe and minor – city workers and police and fire officials not only had their hands full, but carried out their duties with a cheerful disposition and a compassionate hand.
Captain Kramer and firefighters Kaczka and Gaetani of the Bayonne Fire Department were a ray of sunshine through the storm clouds when they untangled a tree from power lines on my property and cut it down before it fell on our house, cars, or anyone walking down the street.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to them and the others who have been working round-the-clock to ensure our safety through this crisis.
Thank you for your devotion!
