BREAKING: Cops concerned about missing Jersey City mom, 32; husband apparently uncooperative

JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — The Jersey City Police Department is asking for help locating a missing mom whom they say disappeared a week ago.
According to JCPD Chief Tom Comey, friends and coworkers became concerned about Randy “Amanda” Lehrer, 32, after she began missing work at the beginning of the week. She was last seen on Aug. 13.
“Apparently, this is very uncharacteristic of her. In three years, this is the only time she’s missed work, other than when she had her baby,” Comey told the Reporter Friday. “It’s out of her nature, according to all the people we’ve interviewed, for her to leave her child behind.”
Comey added that Lehrer’s husband – whose name he would not provide – has refused to speak to police without an attorney present, and “there are certain parts of the investigation where we had to obtain court orders and warrants. We’re still considering it a missing persons case, until we learn
otherwise. We’re looking for anybody that can give us information as to her whereabouts. We’re concerned at this point for her safety.”
The baby, reportedly 10 months old, is staying with grandparents.
Lehrer’s husband is not considered a suspect at this time, Comey said.
Lehrer is described as being 5’2″ with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. She weighs about 145 pounds. Lehrer, who goes by the nickname Amanda, has a tattoo that reads, “Laugh Now Cry Later” on her right shoulder.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Camacho in the JCPD Missing Persons Unit at (201) 547-5427. – E. Assata Wright
