HOBOKEN AND BEYOND — The city of Hoboken announced its plans on Wednesday for the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks which claimed the lives of 57 Hoboken residents.
This year’s theme will be “A Time To Come Together, A Time To Remember,” according to a city release.
A service will take place on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. in Hoboken’s downtown Pier A Park. The Hoboken Clergy Coalition, city officials, and other various community organizations will take part in the service.
A National Football League tribute will also take place after the 6 p.m. ceremony on Pier A Park. The New York Jets play at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford at 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 11, and the memorial could lead into the coverage of the game.
Other services will be held across Hoboken.
All Saints Episcopal Parish will hold their annual commemoration with a morning liturgy at 8 a.m., followed by the ringing of a bell from 8:46 a.m. to 9:03 a.m., the times between the first and second planes hitting the World Trade Center. Additional services will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. All Saints is located at 707 Washington St.
The United Synagogue of Hoboken is hosting their annual day of service, Mitzvah Day, an opportunity for residents to give back to their community. To sign up, residents are urged to visit: http://hobokensynagogue.org/MitzvahDayForm.php.
