North Bergen company says it was stranded by flooding

NORTH BERGEN AND BEYOND — Roughly 200 employees of The Vitamin Shoppe on 2101 91st St. were stranded last night for four and a half hours due to flooding, according to sources from within the company, who also indicated that the company has a school bus on hand to transport employees due to the tendency of the road to flood.
“We couldn’t even get the school bus through; it was like a lake,” said Susan McLaughlin, director of communications. “The people couldn’t get out, couldn’t pick up their kids. It was really frightening.”
“That’s been going on seven or eight years now,” said Tony Truesdale, CEO, in reference to the road flooding. “People that have children in day care can’t get to their kids.”
Truesdale also indicated that the location has roughly 500 employees. – Stephen LaMarca
