SHIBLALL, GAJSOOMATEE

Funeral services were held July 30 for Gajsoomatee Shiblall, 86, popularly known as “Soda.” She passed away July 25 at her home in Jersey City. She was born in Canal No. 2, Guyana. After marriage she moved to Canal No. 1, where she worked as a rice farmer, later becoming a businesswoman in Georgetown. In 1986, she came to Jersey City. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. “Soda” was predeceased by her husband, Ramdeo. She is survived by her children, Ivy, Ramo “Fire,” Hardat, Shirley, Devanand, Permanand “Blacks,” Premchand, Shireen, Dicko and the late Jeewan. She was the mother-in-law of Dindial, Leila, Kamla, Robby, Champa, Prandai, Shanta, Jasmine, Dhano and the late Bernadette; grandmother of Tina, Renita, Vischal, Anil, Vinod, Kunal, Patrick, Andria, Arupa, Joshua, and 21 others, and the late Sharon and Marilyn; great grandmother of 45; great-great grandmother of three; sister of nine; and predeceased by four. Services arranged by the Evergreen Funeral Home, Jersey City.
