HOBOKEN — Although Gov. Chris Christie vetoed numerous items from the state budget this year, he allowed $11 million in state aid to stand that will help Hoboken’s hospital sale.
The money will help pay off the interest on the $52 million in bonds that the city guaranteed four years ago when they bought the hospital.
The news broke this week about this gift to the city, which is a bit controversial. The sponsor, Hoboken-based Assemblyman Ruben Ramos, received two donations in June from family members connected to the company buying the hospital, according to state ELEC reports.
