GUTTENBERG AND BEYOND – The Board of Directors of Galaxy Towers, the giant condo buildings on the Guttenberg waterfront, terminated security and front desk employees as of today after the board decided to hire an outsourcing company, according to sources on the scene.
The workers had received a notification on July 12 informing them of their decision to lay off about 90 employees in an effort to cut costs, sources said. The laid-off employees, who are part of a union, picketed for two hours at 8 a.m. this morning outside the complex located at 7000 Kennedy Boulevard.
The union has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. – Stephen LaMarca
