To the Editor:
The Community Cancer Support Group would like to thank the Bayonne Bombers Rugby Team, who recently held their annual Zena Gallagher Memorial Cup Breast Cancer Charity game in Bayonne on Saturday, May 14. The money raised at this game went to the support group in honor of two of their member’s mothers who lost their lives to cancer in the past year: Mrs. Jillian Norris, mother of Coach Greg Norris; and Mrs. Elba Eugenia Gonzalez de Luna, mother of player Nelson Luna.
Founded in 1989 the Bayonne Bombers Rugby Club competes in Division I of the Met-N.Y. Rugby Football Union. They were founded by a group of ex-college rugby players and ex-pats who were interested in continuing the passion for the game. Players come from Hoboken, Bayonne, and Jersey City. The team boasts over 60 players from 12 nations. For more information about the rugby team, go to their website, www.bayonnerugby.com. The Community Cancer Support Group holds meetings the second Wednesday of each month at Bayonne Medical Center at 7 p.m. For more information on the support group, call (201) 823-9980.
