BAYONNE, JERSEY CITY, AND BEYOND — A man – who has not yet been identified – jumped off a roof to his death at 805 Broadway in Bayonne at about 11:21 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5.
A police spokesperson said that witnesses on the scene saw the man jump. No reason has yet been discovered and the matter has been given over to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Division for investigation.
Police said the victim appeared to be alive when the patrol arrived, but when McCabe Ambulance arrived a short time later, EMTs could find no signs of life.
A report of injuries at the scene said the victim had suffered a broken neck, a broken ankle, and injuries to the chest. The Hudson County Medical Examiner was called to the scene and took possession of the body. The victim had no identification on him, the police said.
Meanwhile, this past Friday, a man who was apparently homeless fell two stories to his death from a ledge outside the Journal Square train station in Jersey City. Witnesses said the man may have been dozing off to sleep next to the side of the upper level when he fell.
He landed on the cement walkway below and suffered from severe head injuries. He had no identification.
