BREAKING: FBI agents in Hoboken City Hall investigating alleged computer fraud case

HOBOKEN – Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were in Hoboken City Hall just now (Thursday morning), removing computers from the city’s third floor Information Technology office, which had been padlocked since last week.

City Attorney Mark Tabakin was on hand and said the city is “cooperating entirely” with the investigation.

Later, in a statement released from the Office of Mayor Dawn Zimmer, it was revealed that the administration contacted the FBI notifying the agency of a potential breach of 18 U.S.C.A., sections 2511 and 1030. Section 2511 relates to the unauthorized interception or disclosure of private communications, and section 1030 involves fraud and related activity in connection with computers.

Officials and agents on the scene would not comment.

Tabakin would not comment further or say who is being investigated.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is to contact the FBI Newark office at (973) 792-3000.
