Dear Editor:
As a resident of Union City who lives right across from our local high school, I sincerely appreciate the fact that our current mayor is finally taking a sincere interest in curbing the continued problem of people who don’t clean up after their dogs.
Just ask any of my neighbors and they will confirm that our neighborhood is ground zero as far as this serious situation is concerned.
However what would help a great deal would be if the city lived up to its responsibility and would please fill the dispenser which the mayor personally had placed on my sidewalk. This dispenser is supposed to provide plastic bags for those who need them in order to do the right thing and clean up after their dogs.
Unfortunately an empty dispenser gives at best a rather lame excuse for someone to ignore their personal responsibility.
My suggestion to our current mayor is that perhaps you need to limit your excursions to certain neighborhoods in Jersey City and keep an eye on those issues which concern us a great deal in Union City.
