Hours after new WNY administration sworn in, heads already rolling

WEST NEW YORK AND BEYOND — According to a media report, West New York Police Director Al Bringa was terminated from his position Tuesday night. New Mayor Felix Roque, who was sworn in on Tuesday afternoon, reportedly had a meeting with Bringa in which he thanked the director for his service and asked him to resign, according to NJ.com.
Bringa insisted he would first talk to the Police Department’s attorney. A few hours later he received a letter of termination, according to a story on NJ.com.
Roque stated that for now, he had no plans for a police chief, so Bringa would be replaced by Captain Donald Gribben and Captain Michael Endri.
Bringa was a 26-year veteran who served as police director for three and a half years, reports said.
The measure was meant to save $194,000, Roque said.
