Spring musical was ‘De-lightful’

Dear Editor:
One of the annual events I eagerly look forward to is the spring school musical. And again this year, my anticipation was rewarded with a wonderful show! The performances of our Middle and High School students in Cole Porter’s musical “Anything Goes” were just “De-lightful”! My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing the show on Friday night and were captivated from the moment the overture began to the cast’s final bows. The singing, dancing and acting talent displayed by our very own students was most impressive! Equally remarkable was how well each performer was suited to his or her role.
There were many outstanding scenes in the play, but the consensus seems to be that the big tap-dance number of the title song stole the show! It was fantastic to see the entire cast on stage, singing and dancing in unison, and obviously having a great time.
I am very proud of the quality education our students receive and believe their participation in the performing arts is an important and rewarding part of the learning experience.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Superintendent Cynthia Randina and the members of the Board of Education for making the school musical a priority, as well as High School Principal Robert Berckes, Assistant Principal Frank Costello, and Middle School Principal Robert Daniello for their tireless efforts to ensure the success of the production. I also want to congratulate and express my appreciation to Director Alana Herron, Choreographer Jody Jaron, Assistant Director/Choreographer Maleesa Lamatina, Musical Director Ilene Greenbaum, Producer Patrice Phemsint, and the many other dedicated adults who worked behind the scenes to help make the play such a memorable and enjoyable event.

Sincerely,
Mayor Mike Gonnelli,
