Funeral mass was offered March 30 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Hoboken for Julia “Judy” Serra. She passed away peacefully on March 28 at The Hoboken University Medical Center. Born in Italy, Judy entered the United States as a young child. In the early 1940s Judy became a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. In the early 1970s she entered a second professional career as a licensed esthetician at the famous Christine Valmay Salon where she remained for 22 years. Judy was a mother to Carol Ann Giambona, Angela Serra, and the late Jimmy Breithaupt. She shared a very special relationship with her grandchildren, Paris and Darlene Branda. An additional joy in Julia’s life were her great-grandchildren, Nicky, Paris, Thomas, Anthony, and Lilly. Also surviving is her sister Nettie Mervine and a brother Richard Amato. She was predeceased by three sisters, Annie DeLuca, Theresa Pellicone, and Maria Amato; and four brothers, Dominick, Eugene, Larry, and Sal Amato.
