BREAKING: Leader for ‘Citizens for Change’ back on ticket in North Bergen

NORTH BERGEN – According to the spokesperson for the Citizens for Change slate, who are running against Mayor Nicholas Sacco and his Board of Commissioners incumbents on May 10, the leader of their group will be allowed to run in the upcoming election after a judge ruled so.
On March 14, when all candidates’ petitions were due in order to file for candidacy at the North Bergen Town Hall, Sacco’s team handed in a total of 53,645. Those on the Citizens for Change ticket handed in around 380 each, but Michael Kreutzer, the leader of the group, was not allowed to run after Township Attorney Herbert Klitzner said that he was not a registered voter in time.
According to a time stamp, Kreutzer had not registered until 4:31 p.m., 31 minutes past the deadline.
Spokesperson Thom Ammirato said that Kreutzer’s voter registration form was delivered to the Hudson County Clerk’s Office at 3:40 p.m.
A Superior Court judge ruled today that he was in fact a registered voter at the time the “nominating petitions were submitted, that he was in fact an eligible voter and eligible to run,” said Spokesperson Thom Ammirato. – Tricia Tirella
