Area hospitals receive “stabilization funds” from state

HUDSON COUNTY – The New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services announced on Monday that three Hudson County hospitals will receive stabilization fund grants to “provide assistance in maintaining health care access,” according to a release.
Christ Hospital in Jersey City will receive $7 million, the most of all the recipients in the state. Hoboken University Medical Center will receive $4.1 million, and Jersey City Medical Center was awarded $3 million.
The $30 million in grants were awarded statewide to “10 health care facilities facing financial and operation challenges,” according to a state release.
“We advocated strongly for this funding in order to enable Hoboken University Medical Center to continue to provide access to quality healthcare as we pursue the transfer of the hospital to private ownership,” said Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer in a release. “The Hospital Authority and I thank Governor Christie and Health Commissioner Alaigh for this critical funding.” – Ray Smith
