NORTH BERGEN – A candidate for office in North Bergen who is said to have been ineligible to run because he was not registered to vote is, in fact, registered, according to North Bergen Township Attorney Herbert Klitzner. However, the candidate, Michael Kreutzer, apparently registered only yesterday.
Klitzner checked with Hudson County officials, who confirmed that Kreutzer registered, but that the form was time-stamped at 4:31 p.m., 31 minutes after the deadline to hand in signatures at North Bergen Town Hall to run for office.
Klitzner said that he is “troubled” that these petitions were handed out to be signed stating that Kreutzer was a registered voter when he was not at that time. Klitzner does not yet know what this means for Kreutzer’s candidacy.
